EV Charging FAQs
Our team offers a wide range of services to keep your electrical system running smoothly!
Older homes might need electrical work, often unnoticed. A system checkup can reveal if an upgrade is necessary for better power distribution and safety. Upgraded panels offer more power and convenience, reducing fire hazards posed by faulty systems. Professional electricians ensure safety by assessing current systems, identifying issues, and inspecting all electrical components. While upgrades involve costs, the safety and efficiency benefits for your home are invaluable.

How much does it cost to install an EV charger at home?
The cost to install an electric vehicle charger varies due to several factors, including the need to upgrade the amp service, the price of the charging equipment, and the availability of any local, state, federal, or manufacturer rebates. We’ll help you find rebates you may qualify for and provide a detailed cost estimate before we begin work.
Is 150-amp service enough for EV charging?
To install a Level 2 charger, you will probably need 150-amp or 200-amp service. For 100-amp service or less, your EV or Tesla charger will probably take up too much capacity for your home. We recommend upgrading to 200-amp service to ensure you have enough capacity to handle the electrical demands of your home.
Do I need an electrician for EV charger installation?
Yes, you should always work with a licensed, experienced electrician to install an EV charger (or perform any other electrical work in your home). Installing an EV charger without a permit may violate the charger warranty and jeopardize your homeowners insurance coverage.
What else should I know about EV chargers?
They’re more affordable than you might think! Your local Mister Sparky electrician will help you identify any manufacturer, local utility, state, or federal EV rebates that may lower EV charger installation costs. Bill from Akian Plumbing was extremely professional, friendly, responsive, and service oriented. He arrived on time in a mask, gloves, and booties. He immediately diagnosed the issue with our toilet, carried out the repair quickly and expertly for a reasonable price, and then checked in on any other issues we might have while he was there. We couldn’t have been happier with Bill’s amazing service and will certainly turn to Akian again in the future for our plumbing needs.

Followed covid precautions and social distancing well. The staff was very knowledgeable and answered all my questions and made great suggestions for general and quick maintenance that would save me money in the long run. Also found their quotes to be competitive.

Used them for three projects, one of which was an emergency job. Each time they responded very promptly and professionally. Their work is top notch and I would recommend them in a heart beat.

Akian Plumbing was friendly, efficient, and affordable. I appreciated that they were very straightforward with their pricing and also offered excellent customer service. They replaced my water heater and did an excellent job (they also charged hundreds of dollars less than all the other companies I quoted ahead of time). I absolutely plan to hire them again in the future!

I’ve used Steve and his team across several properties (each with their own nuances), and they do phenomenal work. They are prompt, efficient, flexible, fair, and perhaps most importantly, transparent. They will illustrate what happened, how it happened, provide mitigation strategies, and things to avoid in general.
